Abel Acuña

Founder · IRL Marketing

Abel's career has moved between three worlds that rarely overlap: national security, high-growth technology, and visual storytelling. He holds a B.A. in Government from Harvard University and is a graduate of The Hotchkiss School, with a background in political science and the visual arts.

At Vanta in San Francisco, Abel scaled ARR from $10M to $50M in 18 months. At The Amherst Group in Austin, TX ($16.4B AUM, 47,000 assets), he helped launch Bungalo Homes and Main Street Renewal. As an international tech co-founder and an early GTM leader at KakaoTalk & Vanta, he has launched new products and helped business units reach their first 100k customers or $50M in new sales.

Behind the camera, Abel shoots on Sony cinema cameras and flies as an FAA-certified commercial drone pilot. He's an active creator with 2k+ YouTube subscribers, 4k+ Instagram followers, and reels that consistently clear 100,000 views.

The Problem

Why services businesses struggle with marketing & growth operations

01

In-house teams are expensive to build

A full-time marketing coordinator may cost your business $55k–95k+ before benefits, tools, and overhead — and you still need graphic designers, web developers, photographers, social media managers, communications managers, and growth marketing strategists.

02

Marketing gets sidelined

Marketing is often viewed as non mission-critical, so staff get pulled into higher-priority operations and sales work. This leaves known marketing initiatives on the wayside — keeping growth opportunities and revenue-generating workflows in a constant start-stop motion.

03

Delayed time-to-market. Missed revenue opportunities

Locations, offers, and services sit without sales-ready content. Sales collateral takes weeks instead of days. Social media and other brand-equity and awareness-building projects get deprioritized every quarter.

04

External agencies aren't built for real-life services

Most marketing agencies don't specialize in in-person services businesses, so their operations aren't optimized for typical deliverables — location photography, walkthrough video, service brochures, social reels, and event capture — resulting in long project timelines and expensive outsourcing to sub-contractors.

05

Typical external agencies lack strategic alignment

Most marketing agencies focus on tactical execution and fail to advance strategic marketing and sales operations that result in faster time-to-market and more revenue capture. Typical agencies fail to demonstrate their ROI or alignment with your business's objectives and key results.

Why IRL Marketing

One hire vs. a full team

For what you'd pay one coordinator, you get an entire bench of specialists.

In-House Hire

$70K – $150Kbase salary only

+ 20–30% on top for benefits, payroll taxes, software, and equipment — a real cost of roughly $85K – $195K/year.

One generalist stretched across marketing, sales, and operations — juggling everything, mastering nothing.

Limited bandwidth & expertise
Recruiting, onboarding, & management overhead
Fixed cost regardless of pipeline or revenue streams
Limited to internal tools & outdated processes

"I know these limitations firsthand — I've been in this position as a solo marketing director at various startups."
